Harry Macklin Rutter
Saturday May 8th, 1943 – Wednesday October 2nd, 2024
OBITUARY:
Harry Macklin Rutter, the sole offspring of Macklin Reid Rutter & Molly Lorna Rutter (Horsburgh, Eberhardt) & Stepson of Enid Jean Rutter (Crosby), reluctantly passed away at the age of 81 on Oct 2nd 2024 at Hospice Quinte in Bayside after bravely battling cancer.
Loving Husband of his beautiful Wife Esther Rutter (Prince) for 56 years & Father of Stephen Rutter & Ronald Rutter & Grandfather of Nicholas Rutter & Craven Rutter. Harry will also be kindly remembered by the Families of the Sanfords, Semarks, Princes, Saunders, Smiths, Farrugias as well as Friends, Neighbours & former Co-Workers.
Harry grew up on a farm in Bayside then worked and raised his Family in Belleville. Harry was a former student of Bayside schools & B.C.I.. He worked as a Farm Hand, Newspaper Boy, Cabbie, School Bus Driver etc…, but is most notable for being the first person to ever retire from Greif Containers.
Harry was of German, Dutch & Scottish decent and distant relative of the owners of the Horsburgh Castle in Scotland. As a young man Harry hitch-hiked across North America and was a living roadmap who could tell you a million different ways to go somewhere when asked.
Harry enjoyed the simple life, the quiet outdoors & travelling the back roads. Always looking up, Harry’s hobbies included observing aircraft/airshows (former Air Cadet), watching the weather & any celestial objects that may pass overhead. Also a well known fan of Star Trek (To boldly go), The Leafs (“FRIG”) & “The Killer” Jerry Lee Lewis.
Right up ’til Harry’s passing he was always joking around, still had his rebellious attitude and in spite of his illness thought of everyone before himself. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him!

A small gravesite funeral will be held. Date to be determined.
