RICHARDS, Douglas Harry…Entered into eternal rest in his 82nd year on March 28th, 2024 following a short admission to Belleville General Hospital. Beloved husband and partner of Brenda (Nicholas) Richards for 55 years. Proud and loving father of Sandra (Daniel) Elliott of Frankford, Peter of Frankford, Norma (Buddhadeb) Chakrabarty of Kingston and Daniel of Frankford. Cherished grandfather of Connor, Taylor, David, Denise, Justin, Andrea, Tyler, Keira, Emily and Charlotte. Ever remembered by his siblings Ralph (Barbara), Linda Walt (Robert), Doreen Crooks (Andrew), Glenn, and Neil (Mary). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Son of the late Raymond and Myrtle Richards.
Douglas was born on March 21, 1943 and lived his entire life in Murray Township. He began his working life as a line repairman for Bell Canada. He loved to recount the adventures he had while working for them. However, his passion was for farming. In 1969, Doug and Brenda established their family dairy and cash crop operation. Doug was proud to build and manage the farm over the years – a legacy of farming he passed to the next generation. As a farmer, he experienced and respected the circle of life in all its aspects, facing the unpredictable, including his health challenges with courage and grace. Doug was a proud member of the antique car club, antique tractor club and was a member of the McPhails Cemetery Board.
Visitation will be held at Wooler United Church on Saturday April 6th, 2024 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Spring interment McPhails Cemetery.
