BABCOCK (nee Reid), Diane Shirley
Passed away at QH-Belleville General Hospital on Sunday, December 8th, 2024, at the age of 78. Dear daughter of the late Keith and Keitha Reid (nee Goode). Beloved wife of the late Garnet William Babcock. Loving mother of the late David Garnet Babcock and the late Catherine Diane Babcock. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren; Devon, Brooke, Raven, Savannah, Jasmyn, James and Deacon. Dear sister of the late Ron Reid. Diane will be remembered by her sisters-in-law; Linda, Millie and Debbie, and by her many nieces and nephews. Diane graduated from nursing school (Belleville General Hospital), in September 1967. She worked for many years in Picton and was a nursing supervisor when the notable Castle Villeneuve explosion occurred in 1986. Diane was instrumental in contacting off-duty doctors and nursing staff to come to assist with this tragedy. Diane loved to tend to her gardens and especially loved growing roses. In their early years, Diane and Garnet were known for being exceptional hosts to many gatherings at their home. Cremation has already taken place. A Graveside Service will be held at Cherry Valley Cemetery in the spring (day and time will be announced on the Steele Funeral Home website). If desired, donations in memory of Diane may be made to QH-Belleville General Hospital, QH-Picton Memorial Hospital, or Gleaners Food Bank.
