Armstrong, Alan George … passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11th, 2025 surrounded by his family at Trenton Memorial Hospital at the age of 65 years. He was the son of the late Thomas & Maureen Armstrong. Beloved husband to the love of his life Josie McKissock who passed away in 2005. Alan leaves behind his cherished son; Anthony Armstrong. He is a step-father to Jamie McKissock & grandfather to Brooke & Leah McKissock and step-daughter-in-law Nikki Phillips-McKissock. Step-father to the late Jason McKissock & wife Blair McKissock and their children; Kendall, Josie & Maggie McKissock. Alan is the brother of Nigel Armstrong, Verna Carr-Armstrong & husband Brain Carr and a dear uncle to Daniel Carr, David Carr & Lila Armstrong. He will be remembered by the rest of his family back home in Northern Ireland where Alan was born.
Alan spent a large portion of his life as a devoted crew member at Sprouts Earth Products, where he not only contributed his skills but also built amazing friendships with fellow colleagues past & present over the years. He built a special relationship with Stuart & Susan Sprout; the owners who also became his close friends. His unwavering dedication and work ethic made him an invaluable part of the team. He graduated from Humber College from the Horticulture Science Program with honours and loved to express his passion for landscaping showcasing his attention to detail. All around Alan was a true jack of all trades. He operated and drove all types of heavy trucks and ran all types of heavy equipment known to man with precision and care, always executing his skills and mechanical aptitude with fixing things on the fly on a daily basis.
Beyond his professional life, Alan embraced adventure during his time off, relishing the thrill of four-wheeling on trails, embracing the scenery and the odd mud pit. He found joy in the quiet moments with his family & friends gathered around the front porch while having a cold beer. He also enjoyed watching his favourite TV Show “Vice Grip Garage” with Anthony as they both enjoyed that time together over their love for all things automotive.
Alan’s warmth, humour, and passion for life touched everyone he met, leaving behind a legacy of friendship and hard work that will be deeply missed. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will forever be remembered for guiding Anthony, instilling the essential life skills and attributes that shaped his understanding of purpose and contribution to the world. As per Alan’s wishes, cremation will take place. The family will be holding a celebration of life for family & friends at a later date. The family kindly asks that donations be chosen to the Quinte Health/Cancer Care – cheques made payable to “Dr. Douglas A. MacIntosh Cancer Clinic” in Alan’s memory.
