Security was tight as the young man charged with Friday’s shooting in Prince Edward County made his first court appearance in Belleville yesterday afternoon. People packing the courtroom had to go through electronic body sweeps and searched purses by Belleville police tactical team. Eighteen year old Dean Brown entered the prisoners box wearing navy T-shirt and grey sweat pants.. Later outside, a distraught bystander Janet Markwell says she felt like “going in there and punching him…Brown…in the head”.. Brown is charged with the murders of Tracey and Whitney Hannah of Valley Road in Mountain View, and attempted murder of Shannon Hannah, now in Kingston hospital. He returns to court via video-conferencing from Quinte Detention Centre next Monday.
