The proposed two-week vacation summer shutdown for the Brighton Public Works Operators may be cut in half.
The staff recommendation for a two-week suspension of services was considered at last week’s committee of the whole meeting, but the issue was referred to a meeting between management and staff.
The two sides got together two days later, and the one-week shutdown was reached as a compromise. No road construction would be scheduled at that time, during the third week of July. Brighton Council will discuss the matter when it meets tonight.
