Madoc Township Council has given the green light to the construction of a new gas station at Highways 7 and 62, but the developer still has other agencies to deal with.
The site plan application submitted by Arnold MacLauchlan was approved.
The site is in the wellhead protection area for Madoc, but the source water protection plan addressing vulnerable areas and how to protect them isn’t expected to be ready for another one to two years. Although the application was approved, Reeve Bob Sager said there is a possibility the developer would be asked to demolish the station once the water protection plan is in place.
