It was a close call for a couple of kids on the Bay of Quinte in Belleville. City firecrews and other emergency personelle were called out after two teenage boys reportedly fell through the ice near the water treatment plant at the foot of Sidney Street just after 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon. There was some confusion finding the pair who made it ashore on their own. They were eventually found at the rear of the Children’s Aid Society building. Firefighters say the pair were wet and cold but didn’t require medical treatment.
