The ratepayers association in Center Hastings believes Council risks being too generous to long time employees. Center Hastings, like many organizations, has a policy offering early retirement incentives. However, payments possible under the early retirement package, can also be made in what’s called a “long time employee recognition” program. The ratepayers say other council’s and organizations don’t offer big money to long serving employees, and neither should Center Hastings. The ratepayers say the current “recognition’ program should be dropped, leaving a program available for early retirements only. Under the current policy, a senior administrator could be “recognized” with a 20 thousand dollar payment, one year’s full salary, and other insurance benefits.
