Marmora has bragging rights to the “longest-running sled dog races in Canada” as it prepares for the Snofest this weekend. Snofest Chair Richard Lowery says this 32-nd year event doesn’t have the regular 250-mile run, but the longest will be 30-miles…and he does mean miles. He says there are still “mushers” dedicated to long runs, but more often it’s younger sprinters who are hitting the trails with their sled teams. Snofest gets underway Friday evening with a long list of events.
