It wasn’t looking good just days before Christmas for the local Salvation Army, but the story has a happy ending.
The annual kettle campaign was nowhere near its 110-thousand dollar goal in Belleville, but Captain Robert Burrell says over 137-thousand dollars was donated, thanks to a last minute infusion of generosity from the local community.
The campaigns in Trenton, Campbellford and Tweed also struggled, but ended up finishing at or very close to their goals.
