A jury in Peterborough has found a 16-year-old Warkworth boy guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Michelle Barnoski. The woman was last seen May 27, 2008, at her Warkworth home. Her body was found buried in a shallow grave in her backyard 16 days later. The Crown called more than 30 witnesses during the trial that started Nov. 4th. The boy testified in his own defence, telling the court his uncle was responsible for the crime and threatened to either kill him or blame him for the murder if he didn’t co-operate. Marc Vickers is charged with the same offence and appears in court in the New Year (Jan. 15, 2010) The boy’s sentencing is set for March.
