A man raising awareness for homelessness is making his way through Quinte today along Highway-2. Kerry Pakarinen and his dog Preacher have been walking for five months….and, they aren’t stopping until they reach the East Coast…no matter how cold it gets. Pakarinen was the owner of a Winnipeg landscaping business before getting hooked on prescription drugs following surgery on a sciatic nerve. He spent 12-years on the streets before sobering up. The man…his dog…and, a 300-pound cart loaded with supplies….cover 40 km a day. They’ll be spending the night in Belleville after leaving Brighton early this morning. They started the cross country tour in Vancouver in July.
