The policing issue remains alive in Stirling Rawdon townsip. A provincial agency has temporarily stopped police services from providing criminal record checks to private companies. It’s an important revenue source for Stirling Rawdon, earning over 200 thousand dollars in 2008. Last night, residents Wayne Martin and Ron Reid, said people are worried taxes will go up to pay for a new police station if the revenue stream from background checks becomes smaller. Ron Reid says the OPP’s least expensive option for policing would be much easier on the ratepayer. Stirling Rawdon is going to wait and see how policy changes effect the background checks before taking any further action.
