Anglers in Northumberland County will be able to fish year round for four kinds of fish starting next year.
The Ministry of Natural Resources announced today fishing enthusiasts in Fisheries Management Unit 17 will enjoy northern pike, yellow perch, crappie and sunfish throughout the year.
There will also be an extended fall fishing season to December 15th for bass and muskellenge, but also stricter limits for walleye and new sunfish limits.
The changes, effective January first, are based on the Management Zone’s Advisory Council’s recommendations, public input and scientific research.
