The Napanee-area M-P-P has introduced a bill to reform the Workers Safety Insurance Board.
Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington representative Randy Hillier told the legislature yesterday the W-S-I-B is broken, and his bill would be the first step in fixing the workplace insurance system in Ontario.
The bill would allow any private insurer to provide workplace insurance, so long as its plan met or exceeded the coverage offered by the board..
The W-S-I-B has an unfunded liability of approximately 12 billion dollars, and has come under fire for lavish spending among its executives and managers.
