The following information was released by the Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Units on Friday, Nov.13, 2009.
The Health Unit is currently providing vaccine to these priority groups
at its clinics:
People under the age of 65 with chronic medical conditions such as
diabetes, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, cancer or kidney disease
(including those 65 years and over)
Pregnant women
Children from six months to under 19 years of age (previously the upper
limit was five years old)
Anyone sharing a household with or care providers of a baby less than
six months of age. (Babies less than six months cannot receive the
vaccine.)
Household contacts and care providers of people with serious immune
deficiencies.
Those healthy adults who are not within these groups are asked to wait
a while longer. The Health Unit will announce when they can receive
their vaccinations.
