A group of women from the Quinte area have offered their thoughts on a new provincial mental health strategy.
The Community Development Council of Quinte organized a meeting in Belleville, one of six held across Ontario, which was attended by about 45 women from the community and 20 service providers.
Community Planner Ruth Ingersoll says the lack of local services is a big issue, since some people don’t have a way of getting to a specialist in a larger city..Some people have found there isn’t enough knowledge in the medical community of where to refer clients with particular mental health issues.
The information from the series of meetings will be compiled and sent to the Ministry of Health for inclusion in the health strategy.
