Ontario’s minister of Revenue says harmonizing the province’s sales tax with the federal G-S-T is the best way to go.
John Wilkinson addressed the Belleville Chamber of Commerce today (yesterday). He says this sytem will cut income tax for individuals and businesses. Wilkinson says only three provinces don’t have the H-S-T and most developed countries around the world use the system. Critics of the harmonization of the PST and GST, effective July next year, say it will increase taxes on a number of services.
