Breakups usually aren’t pretty….but, this one was especially hot.
A 62-year old Belleville woman will be sentenced later this week in connection with a house fire in Thurlow. Mary Hamilton pleaded “no contest”, this morning, to break and enter with intent and mischief at the start of what was expected to be a week-long trial in Superior Court. The fire, in May of last year, started less than a week after the end of Hamilton’s relationship with her longtime boyfriend. The crown is seeking house arrest and probation as well as the restitution of funds and financial compensation. A charge of arson was withdrawn. The blaze gutted the bungalow at 441 Old Madoc Road.
