It was a team effort by local police services in tracking down a robbery suspect at a Stirling grocery store. Stirling-Rawdon Police report the suspect emptied the safe at the Foodland, just after closing last night, and was slowed down by an employee before escaping in a silver Chevy Cavalier. A Stirling officer caught up to the suspect vehicle on Highway-33 and watched as it slammed into another vehicle in Frankford. A footchase ensued onto the golf course. Officers from Belleville and OPP from Centre Hastings and Quinte West joined the search before the Belleville K9 team arrested the suspect. 24-year old Thomas Edward Sams, of no fixed address, is charged with numerous offences. The stolen property was recovered.
