It is now a waiting game for Loyalist College part-time support staff as to when their ballots on joining a union will be counted.
Ontario Public Service Employees Union spokesman Randy Robinson says he believes 15-hundred workers at the province’s 24 community colleges participated in this month’s union representation vote, which ended yesterday.
The actual numbers won’t be available until the votes are counted, but as many as ten-thousand people would have been eligible.
The colleges have already claimed the union didn’t have the necessary 35 per cent of the workers signed up for the vote to go ahead. The ballot counting will be overseen by the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
