Two Picton men are the owners of the world’s largest squash.
John Vincent and Brian McGill set the new World record of 1,236 pounds at the Cornerstone Great Pumpkin Weigh Off last Saturday in Stroud, near Barrie.
The President of the Giant Vegetable Growers of Ontario, Kirk Chenier, confirmed the new record, which beats the previous mark of 1,234 pounds, held by Brad Wursten of Holland since 2007, by two pounds.
Vincent and McGill are also great pumpkin growers, entering the second largest pumpkin, at 1,059 pounds, at the Wellington Pumpkinfest on October 17th.
