The latest proposals to decorate Belleville’s downtown market square area for Christmas certainly didn’t put the city’s mayor in the Christmas spirit. When a mockup of the 60-thousand dollar proposal was passed around the council chambers at city hall last night Mayor Neil Ellis said he took his children to Quinte West and to the Foster display but sure wouldn’t stop to look at this one. In fact Mayor Elli called the pictures of the few lightings “terrible.” He said the city would have to work with what they had. Council asked staff to come back with another proposal. And the Professional Firefighters Association is expected to again be asked to assist with preparing the Foster Display for Christmas.
