After a three month search, Belleville has a new Chief Administrative Officer to succeed Steve Hyndman who is retiring. Last night City Council approved the hiring of Carl Cannon, the present CAO of Port Hope. Cannon, who worked in the Quinte area a number of years ago, has 20-years of senior municipal management experience. Mayor Neil Ellis says Cannon’s background was one of the reasons he was selected, particularly his background in planning. Cannon will step into the CAO position on December 7, but Steve Hyndman is expected to work along with him through December and part of January.
