Belleville City Council will be asked to award its animal control contract to a Kingston-area company when it meets this afternoon.
A report from the Chief Building Official says the bid by Frontenac Municipal Law Enforcement is the most qualified proposal received.
There was only one other bid, from Pierce Animal Control, but it didn’t include five improvements suggested by Frontenac in its business plan, including door-to-door and online tag sales.
Pierce, the current animal control contractor, wants about 200-thousand dollars to provide the service over three years, and expects revenue to the city of about 73-thousand dollars. Frontenac’s proposal would cost about 330-thousand dollars, but predicted revenue of 335-thousand.
