The Conservative MPP for Lanark, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington has criticized the Ontario government’s process on forestry reform.
Randy Hillier says a recent forestry workshop was too restrictive, with only itemized issues for debate. Hillier, who is the Opposition critic for for the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, and Forestry, says Ontario should look to counties like Finland that “harvest” more of the crown land than this province does. He says the “Crown’s stranglehold on 88-percent of all land in Ontario,” stifles competition.
