A very small drop in the welfare caseload in Hastings County.
The Social Services Department says 3,562 people got benefits last month, 24 fewer than in August, and it was the third straight month for a decrease.
However, the figure was 672 higher than in September of last year.
A total of 85-hundred people in the county, Belleville and Quinte West, with family members and other dependants included, relied on social assistance in August.
