A former Chief of Police and Belleville City Councillor has died. Doug Crosby passed away peacefully, at the age of 86, at Belmont Long Term Care home in the city’s west-end. He left the Toronto Police Force to become Chief in Belleville in 1967. The Second World War Veteran retired in 1985 and soon after took a seat at City Council. Crosbie was a cornerstone in the city’s 9-1-1 system. He is survived his wife June and their children Jane and Tom. Visitation is Wednesday at John R. Bush Funeral Home and the funeral is set for Thursday morning.
