A Picton woman has been identified as the victim in a murder case in North Hastings. OPP Sergeant Kristine Rae says police were called out to Papineau Lake in Hastings Highlands Township, just before 2am Saturday, after the body of 26-year old Steffany Natasha Gardiner was found on the public beach. A post-mortem was conducted yesterday in Toronto but the cause of death is not being released at this time. Police are treating the case as a homicide because there are signs of trauma on the body. Officers were on the scene to investigate a separate incident when they found the remains. If you have information of the death of Steffany Gardiner you’re asked to contact Bancroft OPP.
