A bit of a drop in the amount of boat traffic on the Trent-Severn Waterway this summer.
The Director of Canal Operations, Jack Alexander, says there were 100-thousand vessel lockages, when a boat goes through a lock, between opening day in May and the end of August, down by three per cent from last year.
He says the cool weather was a factor, with a decrease in August lockages of nine per cent from a year ago .
Alexander says the economic downturn also kept the number of boaters down, although there were more Americans on the Trent-Severn this summer than in 2008.
