Quinte Healthcare’s Chief Executive Officer says Belleville’s Mayor shouldn’t feel snubbed about a high level meeting in Toronto.
Mayor Neil Ellis told the Q-H-C board today the mayors on the board were excluded from a meeting C-E-O Bruce Laughton and chair Jack Moore attended with the Health Minister on November 13th, just before the originally planned meeting including the heads of council went ahead.
However, Laughton says the decision not to include the mayors was made by the Minister, David Caplan.
Ellis said he felt like a “second-grade citizen” over not being part of the first meeting, at which the Minister said a reviewer would be appointed to examine Quinte Healthcare’s finances to help reduce a projected eight-million-dollar deficit.
