There could be some short term, but necessary, inconvenience for people living on Big Island in Prince Edward County this Fall. A culvert has to be replaced on County Road 21, where it goes through the marsh separating Big Island from the mainland. The work is going to be done this Fall, and it’s being proposed it be done in one or two days, but to keep costs down, only a small pedestrian bridge will be open. Council will hold a public meeting to inform Big Island residents, and will likely put an ambulance and fire truck on the island in case of emergency during the construction.
