More Via Rail traffic is expected through Brighton, but C-N Rail won’t be adding any new tracks in the community.
Chief Administrative Officer Gayle Frost says Brighton staff met with C-N Officials to discuss the federal government’s 923-million-dollar investment in the Toronto-to-Montreal train corridor.
The cash infusion allows VIA to increase the number of trains, and relieve traffic by adding another track at busy sections of the corridor, including in Belleville and Cobourg.
Frost says another eight VIA trains would go through Brighton each day.
