A Campbellford scrap metal collector has been sentenced to nine months house arrest for stealing sculptures while making a business call.
Fifty-six-year-old Doug Snyder, who pleaded guilty on June 24th to theft over five-thousand dollas, was sentenced in Peterborough court yesterday.
He was charged by the O-P-P after two large sculptures, weighing about 200 kilograms each, and worth 15-thousand dollars, were stolen from the yard at a home in Havelock on April 28th.
Snyder had been in the neighbourhood to pick up an old bicycle, and eventually sold them to a Campbellford scrap yard for 128 dollars. The sculptures were returned, but had been damaged beyond repair.
