A member of the Quinte West Public Works Committee says local industries have to stop being influenced by negative economic news.
Thirty employees were laid off at Invar Manufacturing in Batawa, including some workers who had been there for over 40 years.

He believes the constant news about America’s poor economy has played a role in the layoffs at Invar and Autosystems in Belleville, and the announcement of the closure of the Quaker Rice Cake Plant in Trenton next February.
