Preliminary site work is getting underway for Belleville’s 35-million dollar multi-plex recreation complex.
Director of Recreation Mark Fluhrer says a request for proposals on a design-to-build contract goes out this fall. In the meantime officials are still meeting with user groups. Fluhrer says this is to ensure the design for the aquatics, gym, twin-pad ice surface and pool are meeting the community needs. The city is expanding the parking lot at the Quinte Sports Centre site and putting in needed services. The multi-plex must be completed by March 2011 to qualify for the two-thirds senior government funding.
