New technology should make work a little easier at the Nestle Canada Plant in Trenton.
Nestle is installing what is known as a “robotic palletizer,” which will pick up and drop boxes of dried soups and sauces onto skids for shipment.
Employees now have to handle the boxes, and the company says the robot will increase efficiences and make for a safer, healthier workplace.
Nestle would not comment on the cost of the robotic palletizer, saying only that it was a significant investment. The company, which employes about 300 people in Trenton, doesn’t expect any changes in the size of the workforce.
