Tweed hopes to get the shovel in the ground for some preliminary work on its proposed multi-faceted recreation project this fall.
The 837-thosuand dollar project includes major arena upgrades, such as energy efficient heating, dressing room and lighting upgrades, and increased accessibility. The money will also be used to improve playing fields, basketball and picnic areas. The recreation Committee meets with a consultant next month to get the program underway. The federal and provincial governments are each paying one-third of the cost.
