The results of an Eight Wing Flight Safety review, of last week’s crash of a T-33 jet aircraft at C-F-B Trenton, have now been released.
A faulty hatch door is being blamed for the crash. The T-33, with a civilian pilot at the controls, had just made takeoff during the noon-hour last Wednesday when the incident occurred. Public Affairs Officer Captain Mark Peebles says the left-side armament door in the nose-area opened while airborne. The pilot brought the jet back to ground. The plane crashed through the inner fence. The pilot escaped unhurt. Base officials are warning pilots of T-33s to watch out for this possibility. The Transportation Safety Board is satisfied with the review and will not undertake an investigation.
