Hog farmers from western Ontario say with high costs and low pork prices, they’re about to go under and they took their plight to the Belleville office of Agriculture Minister Leona Dombrowsky. They say, because they’ve only been in the business for 7 years or less, they didn’t get much support from the province and the federal government 2 years ago. Dombrowsky says the financial support program was for business problems occurring several years ago, and that government did exactly as cattle and hog producers asked them to do. Dombrowsky says she’ll be taking up the hog producers situation with her government, as well as with Federal officials.
