Good news, at least for now, for Belleville’s Nortel employees. The sale of a major part of Wireless Nortel Network business to Nokia-Siemens will not have an “immediate effect” on the Belleville plant. Nortel spokesman Ryan Hill says there are no “immediate job reductions” anywhere in Nortel based on the announcement. Hill says the deal with Nokia is “just the start of an auction process” and will take some time.
