The Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus is supporting the often stated belief that municipal taxpayers cannot afford to fund social services, ambulance, long term care homes, and other programs previously paid for by the provincial government.
Warden Gord Schermerhorn of Lennox and Addington thinks the province is on the right track with it’s recent announcement regarding taking over the funding of disability and court security costs, but that much more must still be done.
However, the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus does offer praise to both the federal and provincial governments for stepped up investment in this part of the province.
