Local school bus operators aren’t happy with proposals on tendering being put forward by the provincial government.
Several operators told Quinte West Council last night that allowing tenders will lead to huge multi national bus companies forcing them out of business.
Local operators say past history has shown the large companies will lowball on the first 5 year tender, and then, 5 years later, significantly increase their rates, when all of the local competition has disappeared.
In a unanimous vote, Quinte West Council decided to write local MPP’s and MP’s, the Minister of Education, and the Association of Ontario Municipalities in support of local school bus operators.
