Belleville’s Downtown Business Improvement Area continues to study the issue of getting surveillance cameras on streets in the city centre. D-B-I-A chair Jim O’Brien says they are certainly a help for security, but he says, it’s easier to do in a mall where the internal corridors are controlled by the mall itself. O’Brien says it’s different when you’re talking about public property, such as city streets. He says it will have to be discussed with officials at city hall, and the police, before deciding to bring it to city budget in the fall.
