We have a better idea of some of the renovations being done and a potential timeline of completion for the new Bridge Integrated Care Hub in Belleville.
It was announced on Friday that services would close at Bridge Street United Church and temporarily move to 125 Church Street South as renovation work continues at 1 Alhambra Square.
Speaking on The Lorne Brooker Show on 800 CJBQ on Monday, Councillor Chris Malette said there were a lot more issues than what was suspected or known when renovations began.
“When you buy a house, you’re not going to go tear the drywall out to look at the walls. You can have a home inspection, but even the home inspection on this place didn’t show that the ceiling joints, for instance, had to be fortified, which is happening now,” Malette said on The Lorne Brooker Show.
“The long story is, it’s not going to be even open for one floor of occupancy until this coming fall,” Malette said.
Services at 125 Church Street South are expected to begin on April 1 at 11 a.m.
The temporary site will offer essential services, including a drop-in centre, food assistance, access to primary health care, addiction and mental health counselling, and connections to other supports.
