It was all smiles Friday morning, as Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings celebrated 30 years of serving the community.
CEO Hazzem Koudsi says the region has been fortunate to have a local chapter for so long.
Audio Player“Across Canada there’s only I think at this point 48 of them. For our community to have one and to have built 32 (homes), helped 34 families we’re very fortunate.

He He says it is incredible to see the disbelief in the families that get a hand up.
“They just can’t believe how fortunate they are, there’s a lot of gratitude towards Habitat and the community, because our funding comes donors.”
Currently there are several projects on the go.
Audio Player“Up in Marmora, next to St Paul’s Church, we’re trying to get a couple of pieces of land confirmed, as a donation by the church. We’re working with the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte to determine whether or not there’s an opportunity to build a triplex. We are working with Picton to secure a piece of land that would give us a five-plex and the City of Belleville is a 66-unit condo at 93 Dundas Street.”
Municipal, provincial, and federal dignitaries, along with officials from Habitat for Humanity Canada and the Chamber of Commerce, were also on hand.
This weekend the Habitat Restore has 30 per cent off all regularly priced items.
