Bay of Quinte MP Ryan Williams has given his support to the Centre for Workforce Development’s Employer Day of Action event taking place next week.
In a release, MP Williams says the Bay of Quinte doesn’t have a clear handle on the region’s workforce needs.
“We don’t know exactly where the jobs are today or where they’ll be in two years. That means employers are scrambling to fill positions, and more importantly, wages aren’t keeping up because we’re not maximizing labour productivity in our region. If we don’t know where the jobs are, how can we train people for them?” said MP Williams.
“This event is about getting the best possible data from local businesses so we can plan properly, support our employers, and make sure workers in Bay of Quinte have access to the right training and the best wages.”
The event takes place at Trent Port Marina on Tuesday, March 18.
There will be two sessions, one from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. The second is from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Registration can be done by contacting Bonnie DeRushie at bonnie@cfwd.ca or by calling 613-969-0720 ext 1.

Bay of Quinte MP Ryan Williams says we have a problem in Bay of Quinte and it is that we don’t have a clear handle on our workforce needs. MP Williams says, “We don’t know exactly where the jobs are today or where they’ll be in two years. That means employers are scrambling to fill positions, and more importantly, wages aren’t keeping up because we’re not maximizing labour productivity in our region.”
That’s where the Employer Day of Action comes in. Hosted by the Centre for Workforce Development (CFWD) on March 18 at Trent Port Marina, this event is all about getting real-time data from employers so we can fill the gaps, match workers with jobs, and help more people bring home bigger paycheques.
“If we don’t know where the jobs are, how can we train people for them?” said MP Williams. “This event is about getting the best possible data from local businesses so we can plan properly, support our employers, and make sure workers in Bay of Quinte have access to the right training and the best wages.”
What This Event Will Do:
Collect real-time job data – Open positions, wages, and skills needed.
Predict workforce trends – Jobs that will be available in two years.
Align education & training – So students aren’t preparing for jobs that don’t exist.
Maximize wages – By ensuring workers have the right skills to land higher-paying jobs.
“We can’t afford to waste potential,” added MP Williams. “If we match workers to jobs properly, we can grow our local economy, support businesses, and help families in Bay of Quinte thrive.”
