The unionized employees at Invar Manufacturing in Batawa have escaped their parent company’s cost-cutting measures.
Linamar Corporation is implementing an across-the-board, one-year-wage freeze and benefits reduction for floor workers and management at its plants worldwide, including facilities in Guelph and Windsor.
The company, with over eleven-thousand employees, says the changes are a result of the economic downturn.
The Batawa Invar workers, unlike those with Linamar, are unionized, as members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
