- Picton – Sandbanks Park
Lake effect snow squalls continue tonight.
What: Heavy lake effect snow with accumulations of 20 to 40 cm, particularly over the southern part of Prince Edward County. Reduced visibility, near zero at times, in heavy snow and blowing snow.
When: Continuing into Wednesday morning.
Additional information: Lake effect snow off Lake Ontario will intensify this evening. Locations from Sandbanks to Milford and south should see the highest snowfall amounts. In addition, westerly winds gusting up to 60 km/h will result in significantly reduced visibility in blowing snow.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
